Engi co-founder Eddy Canfor-Dumas was one of a team of five observers present in The Gambia for the presidential election during the period 18-29 November 2011.

The mission of the Commonwealth Expert Team (CET) was in three phases.

Pre-deployment consisted of meetings with officials from the three parties contesting the election, members of the Independent Election Commisison, the UNDP, a number of High Commissioners, the media and representatives from civil society.

Deployment saw members of the CET travelling to four of the regions of The Gambia, where they observed at first-hand the polling on 24 November.

For the final phase the CET reconvened in the capital, Banjul, where they worked on their report arising from the first two phases.

Their Preliminary Statement was published on 28 November and the full report will follow soon.
